We form soccer teams for left-behind children in underdeveloped regions in China to help them alleviate the loneliness and the emotional trauma of being left-behind. Through world’s most popular sport, soccer, we hope to bring to them laughter, friendship, and team spirit.
More than 61 milion children are living in the absence of their parents. Lacking parental care and love, these children are lonely and vulnerable. When they are sad, their parents are not there to comfort them. We they are bored, their parents are not there to take them for a walk. Many of these children are unable to pursue their dreams: they are "locked up" by their grandparents in their homes with homework as their only company.
That's why Youth Spotlight empowers left behind children through soccer. We hope soccer can bring them happiness and excitement while reducing the emptiness they experience. We hope soccer can bring them a sense of accomplishment, help them establish more upbeat personalities, stronger bodies, and help them thrive even in the absence of their parents.
